If you are concerned that you may have a drug or alcohol problem, a substance abuse evaluation is the first step in getting the help you need. At Jackson Hole Mental Health, we use research based assessment tools and a comprehensive approach to our substance abuse evaluations. With fast turn around times and flexible hours, we aim to make substance abuse evaluations accessible to those who need them. At Jackson Hole Mental Health, substance abuse evaluations take approximately 2 hours and cost $200. We use the following research based assessment tools:
ASI (Addiction Severity Index): The ASI is a semi-structured interview that has been used for substance abuse evaluations/DUI evaluations for over 30 years. It is currently in it's 5th edition. The interview consists of 161 questions and covers several different domains of one's life that tend to be affected by addiction, including employment history, medical issues and psychological problems. It is probably the most commonly used stardardized instrument in the field of substance abuse and has been rigorously researched.
SASSI-3 (Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory): The SASSI-3 is a one page self-report assessment used in substance abuse and DUI evaluations that is designed to screen for individuals who have a high probability of having a substance abuse disorder.
Audit (Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test): This 10 item self-report is designed to identify individuals who have a hazardous or harmful pattern of alcohol consumption. It was developed by the World Health Organization and has been used for substance abuse evaluations since the 1980's.
