Unfortunately, there are many less than stellar drug and alcohol rehab programs out there. - Be an informed customer; ask questions and educate yourself about going to rehab in the same way that you would if you were seeking medical treatment.
- Get a thorough substance abuse evaluation by a qualified professional who is educated about different treatment options and is not financially invested in those treatment options.
- You should consider a rehab program that makes use of the wide array of medications available to treat addictions and help people detox.
- If you also have a co-occuring mental health condition, it is important to find a rehab center that can treat both conditions.
- Try to find a rehab center that is not time-limited, where length of stay is instead based on your individual progress.
